Status: In Development | Project Type: Open Source
Managing leads, customers, members, and business operations across multiple organizations can become challenging, especially for small and growing businesses. Many organizations need a centralized CRM system but cannot justify the cost or complexity of maintaining separate software for every team or business unit.
To address this challenge, I am developing a Multi-Tenant SaaS CRM, an open-source platform designed to help multiple organizations manage their business operations through a single application while keeping their data and access securely separated.
The project is being developed by Chandra Gupta, a full-stack developer with 11+ years of experience working across IT services, Tour & Travel, and Ed-Tech industries.
What Is This CRM?
This platform follows a multi-tenant architecture, allowing multiple organizations to use the same CRM infrastructure while maintaining separate workspaces, users, roles, and business data.
Rather than building and maintaining a different CRM for every company, organizations can operate through one centralized platform with dedicated dashboards and access permissions.
Key Features & Modules
- Multi-Tenant Management: Manage multiple organizations within one CRM platform.
- Lead Management: Capture, organize, assign, and track leads with customizable fields.
- Member Management: Maintain member profiles, account details, and related activities.
- Counselor Management: Assign leads, manage follow-ups, update statuses, and track interactions.
- Order Management: Maintain member orders and related account information.
- Role-Based Access Control: Configure permissions for different users and organizational roles.
- Dedicated Dashboards: Provide separate experiences for Superadmin, Members, and Counselors.
- REST API Architecture: Support frontend applications and future third-party integrations.
How Does It Benefit Small Organizations?
The platform is designed with practical business requirements in mind, particularly for startups, small businesses, and growing organizations.
- Lower Infrastructure Costs: Multiple organizations can use shared application infrastructure instead of maintaining separate CRM installations.
- Centralized Management: Manage organizational accounts and system configurations from one administrative panel.
- Better Lead Tracking: Reduce manual spreadsheets and maintain a structured lead management process.
- Improved Team Coordination: Assign leads to counselors or sales executives and maintain follow-up records.
- Controlled Data Access: Keep organization-specific information separate through tenant-aware access control.
- Flexible Growth: Add new organizations, users, and business workflows as operational requirements increase.
- Open-Source Flexibility: Organizations and developers can explore, customize, and extend the platform according to their requirements.
Technology & Application Architecture
The project uses a modern API-first full-stack architecture:
Backend
- Laravel 13 and PHP 8.4+
- MySQL 8.4 and Redis 7
- Laravel Sanctum authentication
- Filament 5.x administration panel
- Spatie Laravel Permission
- REST APIs
Frontend
- Next.js 16 and React
- TypeScript and Tailwind CSS
- TanStack Query and Zustand
- Axios
- React Hook Form and Zod
Infrastructure
- Docker and Docker Compose
- Apache and PHP
- MySQL and Redis containers
- phpMyAdmin for database administration
- Mailpit for email testing
Filament 5.x provides the administrative interface, while Next.js powers the dedicated frontend dashboards for different user roles.
Designed for Different Business Domains
The CRM architecture can support organizations working in different industries, including:
- Education & Ed-Tech: Manage student enquiries, admissions, counselors, and member accounts.
- Tour & Travel: Organize customer enquiries, travel leads, and follow-up activities.
- IT & Digital Services: Manage business enquiries, potential customers, and sales workflows.
- Small & Growing Businesses: Maintain customer information, lead pipelines, and internal operations.
These are potential use cases; individual workflows can be customized according to business requirements.
Project Vision
My goal is to develop a flexible, scalable, and practical open-source CRM that makes structured business management more accessible to smaller organizations.
With 11+ years of experience in full-stack development and exposure to IT, Tour & Travel, and Ed-Tech business operations, I am approaching this project with a focus on real-world workflows rather than just technical implementation.
The project is currently under development, and its architecture is being designed to support future modules, integrations, and organizational requirements.
